The JWHC provides the following services:
The woman experiencing difficulty with conception is fully assessed and investigated. This includes a full history and examination of both the woman and her partner with the appropriate testing. Sophisticated tests of sperm function are available. A recommendation will be made about the most suitable forms of fertility treatment. These may include:
- Advice on lifestyle change
- Ovulation induction
- Cycle tracking (ultrasound and blood tests)
- Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI)
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
- IntraCytoplasmicSpermInjection (ICSI)
- Blastocyst transfer
- Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS)
- Embryo freezing
The JWHC provides check-up consultations, which may include cervical smears, vaginal ultrasound scans, advice on contraception, and breast checks, as well as advice on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
An out-patient operating theatre next to the JWHC is used for small procedures such as removal/insertion of Intra Uterine Contraceptive Devices (IUCDs) and myrena coils under local anaesthesia or intra venous sedation. If the procedure requires general anaesthesia this is performed in the Portland Hospital, across the road from the JWHC.
A large part of the JWHC is provision of obstetric care with Dr Cowan delivering your baby on the labour ward across the road at the Portland Hospital.
